First Night Worcester is recruiting new members for the First Night Worcester Youth Council to assist with planning our New Year’s Eve event on December 31, 2008. We are seeking energetic, creative and dedicated teens between the ages of 13-18 to design, implement and oversee a fun and safe venue exclusively for you and your peers. The deadline for the application is August 15th, 2008. The first meeting will be held late August with monthly meetings taking place through the fall, culminating in a venue programmed from 7:00 – until midnight on December 31 followed by a short evaluation meeting in the beginning of January. |

Youth Council members will have an opportunity to develop skills in event planning, leadership, budget management, marketing and program implementation. |

| Recruitment: |
|
Interested participants are to complete the downloaded application form. Prospective Youth Council members will be notified by August 15th. An orientation will be held in late August 2008. |

| Program Components: |
|
- Up to 15 teenagers from schools in Worcester and surrounding towns
- Participants to be supported and supervised by FNW Board members.
- The role and responsibilities of the Youth Council are:
- To identify options for performance/arts for a teen venue.
- To recruit & identify potential performers for their venue.
- To manage a defined budget for the event.
- To set-up/clean-up and manage the performers at the event.
- To recruit volunteers for the event.
- To act as ambassadors for the event by promoting the event to the greater Worcester teenage community.
- To participate in the event on December 31, 2007.
- To participate in evaluating the successes/challenges of the event.

| Commitment: |

Members of the Youth Council are expected to attend monthly meetings and other meetings as needed and participate in the event on December 31, 2008. |
