First Night Worcester would not be possible without all the volunteers who help in every capacity … from serving on committees to selling buttons at the event.

Feel free to have a friend, family member or co-worker fill out an application, too.

What will I do as a volunteer?

Volunteer positions are described inside. Whenever possible, we will try to fulfill your top choice.


What is expected of me as a volunteer?

Good people skills: be responsible, punctual, honest, flexible, upbeat.


JOB DESCRIPTIONS

No matter what role you play as a First Night Volunteer,
you’ll always have someone to turn to when questions arise.

Manager

  • 3½ hour (min.) shift on December 31st between 2:00 pm and midnight

  • Roving responsibilities for approximately 4 venues

  • Responsible for troubleshooting and “behind the scenes” evaluation of those sites (forms will be provided)

  • Serve as First Night liaison to headquarters

  • Volunteer training meeting required prior to event (training time approx. 3 hours)

  • Reports to the Volunteer Coordinator

Captain

  • 3½ hour (min.) shift on December 31st between 2:00 pm and midnight

  • Stationed at one specific venue

  • Manage and supervise between 2-8 Site
    Assistants . Assign Site Assistants to specific tasks (see description below)

  • Serve as ambassadors for First Night Worcester

  • Volunteer training meeting required prior to
    event (training time approx. 3 hours)

  • Reports to the Volunteer Coordinator

Site Assistant

  • Up to 3½ hour shift on December 31st between 2:00 pm and midnight

  • Stationed at one venue and report to Captain

  • Provide one or more of the tasks: selling buttons; crowd control and safety; performance announcements; performer or artist support; familiarity with venue facilities

  • Volunteer training meeting required prior to
    event (training time approx. 1 hour)
