Photo planning is good, but not failsafe

Having a plan is important, but knowing when to scrap that plan when the unexpected happens can save an assignment.

Often there is a typical picture that I expect to get from an assignment. Once I have that kind of picture on my card I am free to try for something better, knowing that I can take chances and probably — but not always — fail.

There are some situations in which I can let my mind and eyes wander, looking for something I’ve never seen before without the pressure of needing to produce a picture.
