Fitness for kids steps up in Worcester On The Move

WORCESTER — According to South High Community School Principal Maureen Binienda, one of the most fundamental elements of her school’s culture is its dedication to giving back to the community, and that element is very much by design.

“We have a lot of programs here that offer opportunities and comforts to the students, but we teach them daily about how you don’t just take — you have to give, too,” she said.

It was this mindset that has led to an eight-week pilot program called Worcester on the Move, which brings a dozen of the high school’s ROTC students to Columbus Park Elementary School each Tuesday afternoon to help students learn how to play basketball.
