Michelle Willson is DJ and host of “The Blend” (Mon-Thu, noon to 3 pm) and “Jazz N’ Blue” (Sat, 4 to 7 pm) on 90.5 WICN radio in Worcester. Known to fans around the world as “evil gal,” Michelle is also an accomplished singer, songwriter and bandleader who has recorded 5 critically acclaimed albums and toured in 17 countries. Michelle has just returned from a performance in Poland. Shinichi Otsu is a pianist, composer, arranger and educator; he is also in legendary sax man Greg Piccolo’s band, Heavy Juice.
Awards/Recognitions: Michelle’s fourth album for Rounder Records, “Wake Up Call,” won the 2002 Boston Music award for Best Blues Album. In 1996, Michelle was nominated for Best Female Blues Singer at the W.C. Handy Awards in Memphis, TN. Michelle appeared with Dr. John last year at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston; with Sugar Ray Norcia she sang the title track on Anthony Geraci and the Boston Blues All Stars “Fifty Shades of Blue” which was nominated for song and album of the year at the 2016 Blues Music Awards.
